Coop and Hen is a small, independent site built around one thing: keeping backyard chickens well, without the guesswork.

It's run by a hobbyist keeper with a small flock at home — not a veterinarian, not a poultry scientist, just someone who has worked through the same everyday questions every backyard keeper eventually runs into: why a hen suddenly stopped laying, what a soft-shelled egg means, how to tell when something needs a vet versus when it's normal.

Every guide here starts from a real, practical question and is checked against established poultry-keeping and veterinary resources before it's published. Where something is a matter of medical judgment rather than routine husbandry, the guides say so plainly and point you toward talking to an avian or poultry vet — this site is meant to help you ask better questions and recognize warning signs early, not to replace professional care.
